Rev3 Knoxville

Lots of exciting things are coming up and one of those is that my triathlon season is starting off with Rev3 Knoxville. I have made the decision to not race and work at the event! It is two weeks after Boston marathon and although in the beginning of the season I thought I could swing it I now know, in the depth of marathon training, I am going to want every ounce of a break afterwards.

Despite not racing this event is going to be epic! I have some pretty big news to go along with this, but I can't share quite yet. I LOVE SECRETS! Keep an eye out! All I know is I will be back for many years to come, including next year, for the inaugural Rev3 Championship Race which will be the Knoxville Half. Find more information HERE. Oh, you have a question about the series you say? Find the FAQ here.

Anyone interested in joining me to preview the course this year?

Reminders not resolutions

Now that January has come and gone and whelp, February is almost through I thought it would be a good idea to think about my resolutions. I don't like to think of them as resolutions but more as reminders. I don't intend to resolve or change anything, but I want to remind myself and improve on the things I already do.
Track it - I have recently updated my training log and I would like to spend more time tracking my workouts than it did to create it this year. I have got this cool dashboard that will allow me to see what is going on at a glance. As you can see, I am not doing so well.

Eat better, eat smart - Coming back from Colorado and the Rev3 Summit I was ready for a detox. I also was amazed at how healthy my team is. My constant focus is less processed and more fruits. I am a vegetable addict so I am really trying to incorporate more fruit. Less sugar and less grain is also a goal, but don't think cutting it completely is something I want to do right now. I started using myfitnesspal.com to keep me honest. Now I just need to enter it in!
Core, strength, flexibility - I just signed myself up for a month unlimited at the Plymouth Yoga Room. Last year I really noticed how beneficial my strength work was. I am hoping this month of yoga will make it a habit and not only help with strength, but improve my flexibility and core. The more I do yoga I find the more at peace I am and focused on my body.
Recovery - My legs are getting a lot of abuse as I train for Boston so focusing on recovery has been top priority. Using my NormaTec boots, trying out my new Compex system, wearing some compression socks, and living on my foam roller. I am really focusing on taking the time to use all options to keep me feeling fresh.

Stop - And smell the roses. Lately my mind has felt like the colorful scribble below. I am really trying to take the time to breath and relax. Stress in and out of my training effects my body drastically. I am constantly reminding myself to take some time before I fall asleep or before I get out of bed in the morning to focus.

Are you still working at your resolutions? Have they stuck? Any tips of keeping at it?
