2013 Rev3 Team Summit

What a weekend! I ended my last post with a picture of a pretty sweet tattoo which belongs to this guy.
Picture with fellow teamie, Holly

Ron, aka, Zach Galifianakis, aka Alan from The Hangover flew in to Boulder at the same time on Friday AM   so he kindly offered to give me a ride. Although I never had met him before and I easily could be dead/kidnapped/mangled right now but he was the nicest, friendliest most lovable person you could imagine. Ron has quite the story. At the age of 32 and 322 lbs he chose to make the change and entered into this crazy triathlon community. He is now down in the 220 range and taking names! He is just one of the inspirational and amazing people that have joined the team this year. You will hear about many more in the upcoming year but feel free to explore my blog list for more info on the teammies.

Group shot!
Over the course of the weekend we had the chance to learn more about our sponsors and ask them anything! We heard from SBR SportsQuintana RooPowerBar and Reynolds, as well as our new sponsors, Compex and Biotta Juice. I am so excited about all of these and a great year ahead!

We also got to go to Pearl Izumi headquarters, tour the building, see the new shoe and apparel lines, hear from Tim DeBoom, and bombard them with questions. Pearl is an awesome company. I don't need to say anything else as their products speak it for themselves, but I am so happy to represent them.

We enjoyed lots of good food and great beer that Boulder/Denver had to offer. The company was amazing!
Centro in Boulder
Maggiano's in Denver
I ate a family style tiramisu by myself. I am a fat kid.
We also had to have a little newbie initiation. Which was epic.

On Sunday, a group of us took to the slopes! How could we not? We went to Winter Park and although the conditions were not 100% in CO, there were awesome compared to MI. Mainly, I think it was the company, but I have never laughed so hard boarding before.

Jordan, Maggie, Ryan, Myself, and Jeff
Ryan got up close and personal with the a tree. It was fun to watch him get out. I almost wet myself from laughing so hard.

Maggie did too! More than once.

We had a great time out there with some epic scenery.

Jordan got a little cheeky.

There are too many funny memories and moments to share them all , but the main take away from the weekend is that I fit in perfectly with this crazy bunch of people.

January; where have you gone?

Stunned and still seeing stars with the month already being over. It has been a whirlwind. I feel like a spent the first two weeks being sick and recovering from the holidays and contemplating a race/training plan (which is still yet to be finalized). Since I was sick I didn't get the start to the season I wanted. It is go time, but I have been having some nagging calf issues and started massage back up. I plan to attack the body with rolling, massage, and stretching to get it back to performance ready.

I also went to allergy testing to get tested for various bee allergies. I am allergic to wasp, yellow jacket, white faced hornet, and two others, but not the honey bee. I need to decide if I want to do the "allergy shots" to make me immune to the venom.  I need to commit to getting a shot once a week for about 8 months and then once a month for a couple years. Does anyone have experience with this? It seems like a lot of time, but I am always outside and don't really want to have to worry about it since my experience last summer happened so fast.

I got to see the band Fun live for free at a really awesome venue in Detroit! It was great food, lots to drink, and an awesome time.

I got some great snowboarding in this year already with a trip up north and an awesome surprise. I am so excited and happy to announce I got engaged to my best friend and handsome boo. I am overjoyed and beyond excited for the rest of our lives and all the adventures that come along with it. The date and location is still up in the air (IT HAS BEEN A WEEK AND 1/2 PEOPLE!). We of course will need to be arranging this around race schedules, but hopefully figuring it out soon. I have already had someone ask me if I got my dress yet.

I ended the month with this last weekend in Colorado where I attended the Rev3 Team Summit. There are some amazing things and people coming out of this company, but I will leave that to the next post. :)

Offseason/Back in the Saddle

Where have I been?! I would love to say I have been doing all these exciting things and being adventurous. I feel like I have mostly been working on my 2013 training log. I have been updating an online excel sheet so I can access it anywhere and creating graphs and chart galore!

To back it up...post last season I made a conscious effort to not workout. It was really easy at first. It started to get hard when people started asking me about it. "Have you worked out since your race?" they asked. Everyone around me seemed to be gearing up for 2013 with early races and heavy training and I had just finished my 2012. I almost started to feel like I should be doing something. But I was quick to remind myself, while sweating out those long trainer sessions, I had promised myself this time away. I timed it well though so I was able to fill all that extra time with holidays and travels and have no post-Ironman blues.

First on the list cookies and mani/pedis. You know I ate cookies through my entire training, but during my "off" offseason I didn't limit myself.

I enjoyed all of what the holidays had to offer. Including pie by the fire.

I got to go to my first Packer game and not have to worry about fitting in a workout.

I also picked up a new habit. Juicing. I am really excited to carry this into the 2013 season.

With my 2013 training log being revamped I also have decided on a tentative 2013 race schedule and excited to be getting back in the saddle. Check out the new tab "2013 Schedule" tab.
